Tour in ENGLISH | De La Gauchetière Street: witness to Montreal's contrasts

AT THE HEART OF THE CITY From Old Montreal to the Faubourgs: 50 Years of Transformation Series description: On the occasion of Héritage Montréal's 50th anniversary, revisit the east end of Old Montréal, the faubourgs and their evolution. From Faubourg Québec to the Viger Station-Hotel area, via the emblematic De La Gauchetière Street, Héritage Montréal offers three tours to help you discover the richness of Montreal's architecture, as well as major modern changes to the city’s landscape and the actions taken to preserve its heritage. Were you unable to join us last year? Were the visits already fully booked? We’re offering these tours again this year, so now’s your chance to join us! Tour 3 - De La Gauchetière Street: witness to Montreal's contrasts Laid out in the 18th century, rue De La Gauchetière was one of the city's first east-west roads linking the faubourgs. Now running parallel to the autoroute, this street bears witness to the densification of Montreal. From the CHUM, through Chinatown, to Beaver Hall Hill, this visit looks at how this emblematic thoroughfare reflects the challenges of contemporary integration into the city’s historic fabric. This tour is presented by la Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec.
